MIRADOR 101
Mirador 101 is part of a historic cable car system that began operations in 1956 but ceased functioning in 1977. In 2016, planners launched a restoration initiative to revitalize and repurpose the site for public use, recognizing its cultural, tourist, and recreational significance. The project encompasses a 2,100 m² covered area in a mountain climate and surrounded by nearly one hectare of flatland, offering ample space for recreational activities.
The intervention began with clearing and stabilizing the existing ruins, followed by developing a comprehensive architectural restoration plan, integrating lighting, street furniture, and wayfinding signage to enhance accessibility and visitor experience. Mirador 101 aims to reinstate its role as a key recreational landmark, blending heritage conservation with contemporary urban design.
